I am not a Bible scholar by any means, just a typical layperson who feels the days are getting short and who wants to know the Lord better than I have before and hopefully equip myself (by the grace and leading of the Holy Spirit) to better make Him known. This blog will just be my personal take on what I read, not meant to be anything more. Sometimes a passage of Scripture just leaps out at me, sometimes it leaves me scratching my head and going “huh?”
Besides my own church, I listen to some Bible teachers I think are very good, such as Charlie Garrett of the Superior Word Church in Sarasota, Florida (www.superiorword.org), Jack Hibbs of Calvary Chapel, Chino Hills, CA (www.calvarycch.org), Damian Kyle of Calvary Chapel, Modesto CA (www.ccmodesto.com), Pastor Mike Winger (www.biblethinker.org), and Christian apologists such as Nabeel Qureshi, David Wood, Gary Habermas, Mike Licona, Sam Shamoun, Michael Ramsden, and others.
I am so thankful for good teachers, but I always go back to Scripture and read it for myself instead of just taking anybody’s word for anything. We all need to be like the Bereans in Acts 17:11, who “received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.”
